Arkansas SourceLink
Arkansas SourceLink (www.arksourcelink.com) is an integrated web-based economic development system that helps connect entrepreneurs and small business owners to information and non-profit resources within the state. Part of this system is the Resource Navigator which is a database that helps users find specific assistance to issues they may be having within their businesses. They answer a few simple questions and the Resource Navigator returns a list of nearby organizations that can assist them. The website also houses a calendar of entrepreneurship/small business related events going on around the state. In addition to these applications users can find a variety of information, videos and articles on many business related topics such as marketing, funding, technology and web-based business tools. Arkansas SourceLink also held an annual competition called "Battle of the Brands". Brands from across Arkansas were placed into an online bracket and were encouraged to seek out votes over social media. Response to the contests have been excellent. The 2013 winner was The Twisted Purl and the 2014 winner was RNT Calls.
Entrepreneurship/E-Commerce Curriculum
The entrepreneurship/e-commerce workshop consisted of a curriculum designed internally at Connect Arkansas. Students were exposed to the basics of entrepreneurship and doing business online during the 4 hour workshop. The curriculum consisted of modules on business 101, social media/marketing, innovation/creativity, e-commerce, netiquette, and web design. The grant required completion of 102 classes for 1,503 students. Over 150 classes were conducted for 2,100+ students. In addition to in-class workshops, the entrepreneurship/e-commerce curriculum was used in conjunction with the 2012 E.A.S.T. National Service Project, "Entrepreneurship: See a Problem, Find a Solution". Below are examples of curriculum that was taught (social media), how the program was conducted (program overview) as well as where the program was conducted (final class numbers).
